Questions and Answers
What is the difference between red rind and black rind hoop cheese?
Red Rind Hoop Cheese is the mild one. Black Rind Hoop Cheese is the sharp variety, more acidic and pungent in taste, and that pronounced flavor is an asset when you're making pimiento cheese spread.
How do you serve red rind hoop cheese?
It's wonderful served as a dessert cheese with melons, berries and various wines. It's also great to have on hand in the summer, when the squash is coming in fresh from the fields and you feel like whipping up a squash casserole.
How long does hoop cheese keep once it's opened?
Once opened, we recommend enjoying our hoop cheese within 3 to 4 weeks for the best quality and freshness. Keep it tightly wrapped or in an airtight container in the refrigerator at 40°F or below. It also freezes well. If you notice any mold, unusual odor or changes in texture, discard it.
Where can I buy hoop cheese?
At all four Stripling's General Store locations: two in Cordele (on Highway 300 and Highway 280), one in Perry and one in Bogart, Georgia. Every store carries both our red rind and black rind hoop cheese.
Or order right here on striplings.com. We ship it cold, along with our other perishables, anywhere in the continental United States (we can't deliver to P.O. boxes), by UPS Ground, 2nd Day Air or Next Day Air depending on where you are. We guarantee it will arrive cool to the touch. Put it in the refrigerator as soon as it arrives.
