Questions and Answers
Is the smoked Boston butt fully cooked?
Yes. It's seasoned with Stripling's signature pork rub and slow smoked over hickory until it pulls apart with a fork. It arrives cooked, so it only needs warming through.
How do you reheat a smoked Boston butt?
Our Smoked Boston Butt is fully cooked and ready to heat and enjoy. We recommend the oven:
1. Preheat the oven to 300°F.
2. Place the Boston butt in a roasting pan and add ½ to 1 cup of water, broth or apple juice to help retain moisture.
3. Cover tightly with aluminum foil.
4. Heat approximately 20 to 30 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
5. Let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing or pulling.
For the juiciest results, reheat the Boston butt whole and pull or slice it just before serving, and keep it covered while reheating so it doesn't dry out. Heating times vary with the size of the Boston butt and your oven, and assume it is fully thawed and refrigerated before heating.
How many people does a smoked Boston butt feed?
Each one runs five to seven pounds, which feeds ten to sixteen. It's the thing to put out for a holiday table or when the whole family turns up at once.
